Mountain bikes on Bocas del Toro can be rented either by the hour or by day. Shops, restaurants and hotels all seem keen to rent you a bke. Daily rates vary, but you ar eloking at something in the region of $10.00 per day. The bikes are quite heavy, are fine for the dirt roads on the island. You can ride to Playa Bluff, which take about 45 minutes or to Playa Drago, which needs about and hour and a quarter. The roads are dirt/gravel.

The Bluff Beach Bicycle Island Tour takes you from downtown Bocas del Toro, along H Avenue past the Las Brisas Hotel, the fair grounds and the town beach. Within a mile you will be heading up the east side of the island with the town far behind. You will cycle through rain forests on your left and the Caribbean on your right. Soon you get to Punch Beach , a less scenic beach than Bluff, but one with a reputation for great surfing.Then Bluff Beach, which starts about 4 miles from town and continues for over 2 miles. Stop and take a walk on the beach, and enjoy a picnic (if you have brought one with you!). The the end of the road is at the end of the beach and the total ride is about 6 miles out and 6 miles back, and is relatively level the whole way.
